Bandshell In General Clinton Park
In 2009 the Bainbridge Community Foundation has chosen an outdoor music & arts shell to be erected on the grounds of General Clinton Park for our next undertaking. The Community Foundation members feel that that this project is one that will offer multiple opportunities for current local performers such as the "Old Time Band", the "Tri Town Theater", "Out of the Woodwork Players", etc., and will entice new talent to come to Bainbridge and "strut their stuff". Whether it be music, dance, acting or other entertaining activity, an outdoor performing facility offers a venue the we feel will have mass appeal.
Events at the park such as the General Clinton Canoe Regatta, the National Dog Show & Competition, The Motorcoach Rally, and many others will, likewise, find this project beneficial for award presentations, and as a public address outlet.
In 2011 construction was completed with the Bainbridge Lions Club and the BOCES Building Trades class finishing the roofing and Doug Ireland and Pete Taggert completing the wiring and the Bainbridge Rotary Club skirted the shell.
The shell saw use during the 2011 General Clinton Canoe Regatta and the Tri Town Theater presented the play "Nunsense". It is proving to be a great venue for outdoor music and theater. Rock in the Park uses the Bandshell every July for their concerts, Artimus Pyle, Marshal Tucker and Rusted Root have played here. Also the Bainbridge Community Foundation has a concert series Tuesday nights in late July and early August that highlights local talent.
